you're a hot mess,
AND I'M FALLING FOR YOU! AND I'M LIKE, HOT DAMN, LET ME MAKE YOU MY BOO!
Today seemed like any other ordinary day in the life of Janus, however there was one large thing standing in the way of him enjoying this cool spring morning. You see, the previous day the man had lost a game of chess to one of his closer friends, and it was putting him on edge. How could he lose something so easily? He simply shuddered at the thought. Of course it wasn't nearly as humilating as some of the defeats he'd tasted as a child, his colleague looking suprised himself and not broaching the subject afterwards, wisely noting Janus' infuriated expression. Janus had been raised on the belief that defeat was not acceptable, and that if you lost, you were as good as useless. Janus made a point not to be useless.
His first double-period lesson had been lackluster, the students shuffling nervously as they realized that their professor was definitely not his normal, happy, exciteable self. Instead of encouraging questions on the history of light waves, and who exactly had first discovered that light did not move instantaneously, he had sniffed and told them to hold such questions until after class then then finished up his lesson in a rather clipped tone. His pupils hadn't pestered him afterwards about the subject, hadn't asked him how his weekend had been, hadn't exclaimed random things about their own weekends. Normally he had a rather good class, with a lot of loud students who he rather enjoyed having. He liked the loud ones; they kept things interesting.
The next two periods he had were free, one being his lunch, and so Janus shuffled about the science building, not really heading anywhere in particular. He thought about visiting another Physics professor, but then decided better of it. It wasn't as if they'd have anything interesting to talk about- they were all far older than he was, and more amazing by him than anything. While his genius was a large part of his life, he didn't enjoy being oogled by people he barely knew within his own workplace, nor did he enjoy them firing random, complex equations at him simply for their amusement when he was able to solve them without thinking about it.
Sighing and stuffing his hands in the pockets of his biege slacks, Janus finally decided to go see his English teacher friend. She might be able to cheer him up- she had the same outlook on a lot of things as he did. His dark brown loafers made him almost silent as he slinked through the hallways, slipped out the door, and headed towards the English classrooms. The sun was bright in the sky, and it was almost too warm outside. His pastel orange suit shirt had it's sleeves rolled up to his elbows, and his hazel eyes squinted against the strong sunlight.
In a few moments, he was entering her classroom. Holding up a hand in greeting, he smiled, then promptly sat ontop of one of the desks, using a seat as a foot rest. "Howdy, there. How do you do?" He said, flashing a pearly smile her way, eyes scanning the room around him. He had the attention span of a fish, and intelligence surpassed only by those scientists such as Newton and Einstein. The two were an akward combination, but he survived. Already he was off of his perch, wandering around the room, poking at random things, waiting for her answer.
